World History by a Jew: Chabad of Toco Hills has a new one-of-a-kind lecture series! World history from a Jewish perspective: Learn about famous historical events and explore the (often surprising) ways these events are connected to the Jewish people. Next lecture:

Topic: “A Historian’s Take on the Chanukah Story” by Seth Fleishman

Description: Everyone knows the basic story of Chanukah, right? Maccabees. Greeks. Temple. Oil lamp. Eight days. But… what’s the actual story? What if I told you the Greeks weren’t really Greek? Where did the Maccabees come from? Did you know they weren’t born High Priests? If they weren’t fighting Greece, who were they fighting? What were the surrounding countries doing during the revolt? How did international politics impact these Jews? Want to know more? Come to Chabad of Toco Hills and find out!
