If you knew Feeney, you know one thing for sure: He was a DAWG. He was born a Dawg. Literally. Baby UGA shoes were waiting for him in the hospital when he was born.
He followed UGA sports, loved spending time in Athens, explored the food, music and outdoors, and eventually graduated from the University of Georgia.
So when we started thinking about a fun way to bring people together to support the Feeney Legacy Project, it didn’t take long to realize that Feeney’s love of the Dawgs had to be part of it.
And that’s how Dawgs for a Cause was born.
So, What Exactly Is Dawgs for a Cause?
It’s a night to celebrate Feeney, the Dawgs, Athens, and the lifesaving mission of FLP.
On Saturday, October 24, from 5–7 p.m., we’re gathering at SweetWater Brewing Company for a fun, casual evening with good food, great music, SweetWater drinks, raffle prizes and plenty of Dawg spirit.
- Tailgate-style food
A live band Feeney would have loved
SweetWater beers, seltzers and sodas
A special FLP SweetWater souvenir glass
A whole lot of Feeney and Dawg spirit - Giveaways and more
But Dawgs for a Cause is about much more than having a good time.
We Are Having Fun with a Purpose.
The Feeney Legacy Project was created because Feeney’s story should never be forgotten and because we don’t want another family to experience the heartbreak of losing someone simply because nobody knew what to do or was afraid to take action.
Our message is simple:
Don’t be a Bystander.
Be an UPSTANDER.
Take Action. Call 911.
We want more people to know Hands-Only CPR, understand Georgia’s 911 Medical Amnesty and Good Samaritan Laws, and register as organ donors.
Feeney became an organ donor, helping give more than 150 people a second chance.
That is his legacy.
And that is what we are carrying forward.
Come Be Part of the FLP Herd
Dawgs for a Cause is a chance to gather our FLP family, fellow Dawgs, Athens lovers, friends and new friends together for a night that is fun, meaningful and very Feeney.
You don’t have to be a UGA graduate. You don’t even have to know all the words to “Glory, Glory.”
You just need to love a good cause, enjoy being around good people and believe that one person taking action can make a difference.
Come celebrate Feeney.
Come celebrate the Dawgs.
Come support the Feeney Legacy Project.
And come help us build a community of Upstanders taking action.
Go Dawgs! And Go FLP!
