The Georgia Voter GUIDE

What are the 2025 Georgia elections?
(and, why they matter.)

On the ballot this year: your local leaders, your power bill, and your wallet.

The 2025 Public Service Commission & Local Elections

This year Georgians will get to vote for two Public Service Commissioners in the 2025 elections. These commissioners determine important things like, how much you and your family pays for power, how much of Georgia’s power comes from renewable energy sources, and where energy infrastructure projects are built.
There are also local elections all across Georgia this year for local seats like the mayor, city officials, and school boards.

Why the Public Service Commission Election Matters

Your Wallet
  • The Public Service Commission (PSC) is a body of five elected officials who regulate our electricity, natural gas, and telecommunications across Georgia. They decide how much you and your family pay for power and what kind of energy sources companies (like Georgia Power for instance) uses, which is important for climate and your wallet.
The Environment
  • Public Service Commissioners get to decide how much of Georgia’s power comes from renewable energy sources. This has an impact on the quality of the air we breathe, how much pollution we and our loved ones are exposed to, and how we protect our environment for generations to come. The 2025 elections will determine if we get increased access to affordable renewable energy sources.
Our Communities
  • Public Service Commissioners have a lot of power over which infrastructure projects get funded, and where they happen.

This year, you have the power to change all of that by voting for candidates who share your values and are committed to protecting your community.
