About Mental Health Awareness Month–MHAM
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a tradition going back to 1949. The annual observance offers the perfect opportunity to raise awareness about mental illness.

Every year, MHAM focuses on a particular message to
recognize and amplify, and this year’s theme is “Stigma grows in silence. Healing begins in community.” It reflects the importance of open dialogue, lived experience, and connection in helping
people feel less alone. Together, we can realize our shared vision of a nation where anyone affected by mental illness can get the appropriate support and quality of care to live healthy, fulfilling lives.

Jewish Mental Health Values

Jewish values, or middot, help build the foundation on which the Jewish community stands. We believe middot empower us to connect Jewish thought to mental wellness. Jewish literature and discussion have focused on healing, wellness, and community for years, yet we often shroud mental health in a cone of silence. To emphasize the role the Jewish community plays in promoting mental wellness, the Blue Dove Foundation focuses on the following eight middot.
