Get Outside This June: Celebrate National Great Outdoors Month
June is National Great Outdoors Month; the perfect time to step outside, breathe fresh air and enjoy nature. Whether it’s a walk through the neighborhood, a hike with friends, a picnic at the park, or time spent gardening, being outdoors can improve both physical and mental well-being.
TheFeeney Legacy Project encourages everyone to use this month as an opportunity to reconnect with nature, family, friends, and community. Outdoor activities can reduce stress, improve mood, encourage movement, and create healthy ways to spend time together.
You don’t have to plan a big adventure to celebrate. Small moments outside matter too:
Take a walk after dinner
Visit a local park
Ride bikes with family or friends
Try a new hiking trail
Have conversations away from screens
Attend a community outdoor event
Spending time outdoors can also open the door for meaningful conversations and stronger connections. Sometimes the best talks happen during a walk, around a campfire, or while simply enjoying fresh air together.
At FLP, we believe healthy communities are built through connection, awareness, and support. This June, take time to enjoy the outdoors, move your body, and check in with the people around you. A little sunshine, movement, and conversation can go a long way.

The Feeney Legacy Project (FLP) began at Feeney’s deathbed, where his mother, Kathy, made a promise: her son would inspire others to save lives—so no one else would suffer the heartbreak of preventable loss. That promise lives on through FLP’s mission to remind everyone: Don't be a BYSTANDER. Call 911. Bea LIFESAVER. FLP is saving lives with Lifesaving Billboards. For a period of 40 days in 2025, our billboards reached 8.5 million people. In 2026, we aim to reach over 10.5 million, saving lives through awareness. Donate an hour and save lives--YOU will be a LIFESAVER
