Yemen Blues with Ravid Kahalani

March 11, 2018 Atlanta $50.00 - $60.00

Yemen Blues with Ravid Kahalani will be the first performers of the 2018 Molly Blank Concert Series. In honor Israel’s 70th anniversary, the Breman is partnering with the Israeli consulate to bring one of Israel’s hottest acts, Yemen Blues, to Atlanta.

Conceived from rising Israeli star Ravid Kahalani’s vision, Yemen Blues’ original music mixes Yemeni and West African influences with contemporary grooves, from funk to mambo, and the deep soul of old Mizrachi chants. Khalani grew up in a traditional Jewish Yemenite family, and brings the language and rhythm of his origins together with Blues, Funk, Classic Operatic singing, North African soul, and Middle Eastern textures.

Conjuring up a rich and diverse aural palette, Yemen Blues coexists in both the past and the present, at once timeless and modern. The collective is a true collaboration of top master musicians.

This concert was made possible by The Molly Blank Fund of The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.

The Molly Blank Fund of The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation was established after Mrs. Blank’s 2015 death at age 99 to continue the pursuits of causes and organizations in which Molly believed. Her values can be summed up in a statement she often made, “Everything we strive to do in life is a gift. It’s our responsibility to share it, to give back to the world.”
