The Breman to present a program featuring photographer Robert Weingarten, whose work is exhibited in ICONS: Selections from The Portrait Unbound, on September 10.
Author and Smithsonian curator Shannon Perich to provide context with a talk about the development of photographic portraiture, including Weingarten’s groundbreaking digital creations – Photographer Robert Weingarten will speak on Sunday, September 10, at The Breman in a program, “Pushing Boundaries,” being presented in conjunction with his exhibition ICONS: Selections from The Portrait Unbound, Photography by Robert Weingarten. Also participating in the 2 p.m. program is Shannon Perich, author and curator of the Photographic History Collection at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
Weingarten will discuss the evolution of his diverse projects that led to the groundbreaking series of portraits that comprise ICONS: Selections from The Portrait Unbound, which remains on view at The Breman through October 1. Author of The Changing Face of Portrait Photography: From Daguerreotype to Digital, Perich will give an illuminating presentation on portraiture’s development, setting the context for Weingarten’s presentation.
Part of The Breman’s Something Special Sundays Presented by Marilyn Ginsberg Eckstein series, this free program will conclude with a Q&A with Perich and Weingarten as well as a gallery tour with Weingarten, Perich and exhibition curator Tony Casadonte of Lumière gallery.
