Stephen Sondheim was born in New York on 22 March 1930 and is widely acknowledged as the most innovative, most influential, and important composer and lyricist in modern Broadway history.​

For more than 50 years, Stephen Sondheim set an unsurpassed standard of brilliance and artistic integrity in musical theatre. His accolades included an Academy Award, eight Tony Awards (more than any other composer) including the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, multiple Grammy Awards, multiple Drama Desk awards, and a Pulitzer Prize.

He wrote the music and lyrics for:

VOICES OF NOTE

Under the direction of David Aurilio, this umbrella organization “serves the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus and Atlanta Women’s Chorus in fulfilling their vision to open hearts and minds through music in Atlanta for the past 42 years. Each chorus inspires dialog and drives social equity through artistic excellence.

Voices of Note provides a voice for the LGBTQIA community, which is an underserved and underrepresented aspect of society. Their programming affirms and uplifts the community with music and storytelling that inspires hope, creates community, and provides positive role models for both the internal and external community. Voices of Note has more than 170 members who work, rehearse, and perform, as well as our board of directors and staff.”

This is a Something Special Sundays performance presented by Marilyn Ginsberg Eckstein.
