SVIVAH has been wanting to talk about this topic for a long time. And given some of the more recent headlines of communal betrayals and abuses… it seems like the right time for this conversation.

That doesn’t mean we’re not terrified of this topic.

It is so huge. So raw. So real. So, so, so important. We want to get it right. Because there are lives and hearts and souls enmeshed in every conversation about this.

HerTorah: Purim + #MeToo: Shining Light on Violence Against Women in the Megillah

Wednesday 3/9 @ 8-9:45pm EST
Featuring Dr. Guila Benchimol + Rabbi Aviva Richman; Offered in partnership with SRE Network+ JCADA

Purim is a joyful, fun holiday, but Megillat Esther contains dark tales of women’s victimization that are hard to ignore. As we think about the lessons of #metoo, how can Torah learning that acknowledges and centers the experience of women in the megillah help us respond better to violence against women today?

RSVP for Zoom link at www.svivah.org/happenings

We could not be in better hands — Dr. Guila Benchimol and Rabbi Aviva Richman look at gender-based violence and do not look away. They are beautiful, compassionate leaders who use their scholarship to hold the people who need to be held and to bring out the best in all who come to learn with them.

Please join us. We need your voice in this conversation, too.

**Please note that this sensitive conversation will be about sexual victimization. We acknowledge that these conversations may be difficult and painful. We encourage you to take the care you need for your well-being and safety if you would like to participate. **

HerTorah gathers together a diverse community of Jewish women to connect over our shared heritage, explore our collective wisdom, and elevate our communal experience in learning with and from one another.

This gathering welcomes learners of all backgrounds. Questions? Email connect@svivah.org

*SVIVAH defines “Jewish woman” as anyone wishing to be included in a circle of Jewish women. If you want to be here, we want you to be here, and welcome.
