My Prayer/Tefillati: Finding the Prayers of Our Heart: Panel + Workshop

Thursday 9/29 @ 8-9:40pm ET via Zoom

www.svivah.org/happening/myprayer

Starting the New Year so much communal reflection over Rosh Hashana — let’s take a moment together before Yom Kippur to reflect on the prayers we hold closest to our hearts and how we might tap into them during this prayerful season.

Join SVIVAH this Thursday before Yom Kippur with these beautiful liturgists, ritualists, and community holders. We will have a powerful conversation facilitated by Dr. Jane Shapiro of Orot with Rabbi Deborah Sacks Mintz — a beautiful composer and musician, Fran Loosen — an expert in experiential design and soulful ritualist, Rabbi Rachel Barenblat — who molds words into the prayers our souls need, and Rabbi Samantha Frank of Modern Ritual –- who thinks deeply about what makes prayer meaningful and accessible. They will share with us how they explore poetry, art, song, ritual design to unlock their own prayerfulness.

Then. THEN! Choose the workshop you find most meaningful and tap into the prayers closest to our hearts before Yom Kippur. This will be a panel discussion followed by a workshop of your choice: writing, art, ritual design, remembering a loved one.

Kohenet Rachel Kann will be using creative writing to tap into our prayerfulness. Rabbi Sarah Tasman will offer art and the creative process as a gateway to our personal prayers. Rav Amalia Mark of Mayyim Hayyim will help us explore ritual design and guide us in the creation of a personal ritual. Yael Flusberg will invite us into a space of remembering, connecting with loved ones lost.

We are so looking forward to having this space of preparation before Yom Kippur.

Grateful to be partnering with Orot Chicago, Mayyim Hayyim, and Bayit in bringing this gathering together.
