Juneteenth Kabbalat Shabbat Celebration

June 17, 2022 Chamblee Free
Juneteenth

Please join AJOCC in partnership with Kol HaPanim for a Kabbalat Shabbat centering the voices of Jewish spiritual leaders of color. We’ll honor the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States through a Jewish lens. Although Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, very few people were immediately freed. A full two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation and two long months after Richmond fell, the last enslaved African Americans in Texas were pronounced free people.

Services will be led by Rabbi Sandra Lawson, Rabbinical student Koach Baruch Frazier, Rabbi Joshua Lesser, and facilitated by Victoria Raggs. The in-person event is free, but registration is required at https://ajocc.org/upcoming-events/ or

Zoom option also available see the Registration page
