The annual Tenenbaum Lecture Series in Jewish Studies at Emory University will host this year the acclaimed author and professor from the University of Michigan – Ruth Behar. Prof. Behar was born in Havana, Cuba, and grew up in New York. Her lecture, “The Jews of Cuba and their Diasporas: Memories, Stories, Dilemmas”, will address the contradictions surrounding Cuba’s Jews on the island as they forge a path between the scroll and the revolution, between Jewishness and Cuban citizenship, while also exploring the connection to and separation from Cuban Jews in the diaspora.

The Lecture is free and open to the community, and will be followed by a book signing and a reception.
