“The world’s reigning male chorus” —New Yorker
Known for its wide-ranging repertoire and dazzling virtuosity, the Grammy Award–winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer brings their “orchestra of voices” to the stage for an evening of classical, jazz, and popular music.
The evening’s concert is titled Music of a Silent World and centers around a new arrangement of Majel Connery’s song cycle, The Rivers are our Brothers, which was written in, around, and about the Sierra Nevada mountains. Each movement inhabits a different part of the Sierra’s natural beauty: from its high peaks to its forests, rocks, rivers, and snowbanks. To complement Connery’s song cycle, the program also includes arrangements of Stardust by Hoagy Carmichael, Washing of the Water by Peter Gabriel, and Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell, among others.
