This series of four classes begins Sunday, September 11, 2022, and will be available through live Zoom webinars and Facebook Live. Robin has been active as an artist and art educator since 1970 and has been a Master Gardener since 2005. Robin has actively taught in the Atlanta art community for four decades including over 30 years at Chastain Arts Center, a part of the City of Atlanta Parks and Recreations Department. As an active member of North Fulton Master Gardeners, Robin has been teaching vegetable gardening at Farm Chastain and at her own personal garden during the pandemic since 2010. One of Atlanta’s most accomplished master artists as well as master gardeners, her artistic eye dominates all of her garden landscape’s design. Her garden has been on many garden tours, Atlanta Botanical Garden in 2016, GPPA, Sandy Springs Garden tour to name a few. She volunteers with Fulton County, Georgia as a Master Gardener, with Sandy Springs in both the Garden Club and the Sandy Springs Society and travels the world with Atlanta Botanical Garden exploring amazing gardens.

Learn how to create a fall fairy garden for your yard or porch. North Fulton Master Gardener Marty Thomas will demonstrate various fairy garden projects that you can do with children using a variety of materials.

Marty Thomas is a former elementary school teacher and has been substitute teaching in Fulton County schools for 24 years. She has taught various children’s art classes over the years including a fairy garden camp each summer. Marty has four grandchildren and loves doing arts and crafts with them!


Gardens of the North Fulton Master Gardeners: Finding Gardening Inspiration through Shared Ideas

North Fulton Master Gardener Sandra Shave will showcase the gardens of four Master Gardeners, with the goal of providing gardeners with ideas and inspiration that they can bring to their own home gardens. The class provides an overview of what might be possible and elements of garden design. The class will demonstrate that gardening is as varied as your individual creativity and the fun is in the discovery, the failures, and the success.

Sandy graduated from the Master Gardener program in early 2019, having completed the coursework in the spring of 2018. She is a recent transplant to Roswell, Georgia, moving from Wisconsin in 2014 after retirement to be nearer to her children and most importantly her grandchildren! Prior to the move, Sandy worked in the Medical Device industry in sales, marketing, and product development roles over her 35+ year career, predominantly working for GE Healthcare and Baxter Laboratories. She is a Medical Technologist by education. Sandy grew up on a dairy farm and has been a life-long avid gardener and is excited to master the art of gardening in Georgia and to help teach others via the Gardening Lecture Series & Speakers Bureau.

The 2021 David Gibby International Master Gardener Search for Excellence (IMGSFE) Awards have recognized the North Fulton Master Gardeners for our efforts in the face of a global pandemic in successfully providing horticultural education to the North Fulton community and beyond through virtual webinar technology. The First Place Award in the Workshops/Presentations Category was made on September 15, 2021, during the virtual International Master Gardener Conference. Over the past two years, more than 24,000 people have viewed the NFMG Gardening Lecture Series including 5000 who have viewed the classes LIVE through Zoom webinars or Facebook, and an additional 19,000 who viewed the recorded classes on the NFMG YouTube channel.
