Across the communities of Buckhead, Dunwoody and Sandy Springs there are many events and festivals in the late spring and summer months. Almost every weekend you will find something exciting and fun to do and guaranteed to appeal to a wide variety of interests! Whether you are a foodie, live music aficionado or a lover of arts and crafts, you are sure to find something to catch your attention. These outstanding communities each have their own local flavor so make sure to explore them all!

The Buckhead area is of course widely known as one of the crown jewels of the Atlanta metro area. There are numerous high-end shops and stores and fine dining opportunities abound. However, there are also many festivals and events, especially during the summer months. From May 31-June 2 the Buckhead area will be hosting many events associated with the grand finale of Atlanta’s “Food and Wine” month. The food and wine festival will include a tasting of varietals from around the world, interactive wine seminars and tasty treats from local restaurants. There will also be opportunities to enjoy live entertainment while shopping at the local “pop-up” market. In August you will have the opportunity to enjoy “Eats and Beats” a one of a kind event that combines fantastic food and drink and a silent foodie auction! The event features tastings from many of Atlanta’s top restaurants and also features band performances by local chefs who double as talented musicians. The last Saturday of each month features Market Atlanta’s Party Brunch where you can sip bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary’s while enjoying delicious food and listening to music provided by some of the most prominent DJ’s in Atlanta. The Buckhead Spring Arts and Crafts Festival will be held in Chastain Park on May 10-11. Up to 40,000 visitors attend this event each year and with 185 displays of fine arts and crafts, you will be hard pressed not to take something home with you. Gourmet food, craft beverages and a stage for acoustic musical performances round out this exciting event.

Continuing our exploration we travel a few miles further north to the town of Dunwoody. The second Saturday of each month you can improve your physical fitness by taking part in the “Walk with a Doc” program from 9 to 10 am. The goal of the program is to get participants active in a Dunwoody Park while talking to a healthcare professional who can provide support and answer any questions. Healthy snacks, coffee, and blood pressure checks are also a standard part of this event. The Dunwoody Arts Festival will be held on May 12-13 this year and has become a Mother’s Day tradition for Dunwoody residents. The entire area of Dunwoody village will be transformed into an artist’s market with shopping and events for the whole family. A “Kidz Zone”, crafts, games, and a food court round out this exciting event. Be sure to line up early along Mount Vernon Road for Dunwoody’s annual July the 4th parade! Watch as bands, floats, clowns, and local celebrities walk by to entertain you. Last year more than 30,000 spectators attended the parade.

Traveling a little further West we come to the city of Sandy Springs one of the premiere shopping and dining destinations in all of metro Atlanta. On Saturday, April 21 you can participate in the Sandy Springs Lantern Parade. This year will feature new dragonfly and great blue heron “puppet” lanterns which will interact with the audience. Once the parade reaches the river, paddlers from High Country Outfitters will take select lanterns to the river for a floating parade. Food that Rocks is Sandy Springs signature food tasting event. On June 9 more than 25 of Sandy Springs favorite restaurants will be under the big tent in the Sandy Springs City Green. The all-inclusive event will provide you with food, wine, beer, and cocktails, it also features live music and the proceeds are used to benefit local charities.
