Seventy for 70 Scholar in Residence Rabbi Jeffrey Saks

Young Israel of Toco Hills was selected as one of 70 communities across the country to partner with the Religious Zionists of America and host a scholar in residence to mark the 70th anniversary of the birth of the state of Israel. Over this Shabbat Parshat Shemini, April 13-14th YITH is honored to welcome Rabbi Jeffrey Saks, founding director of ATID–The Academy of Torah Initiatives and Directions in Jewish Education, and its WebYeshiva.org program, and Associate Editor of the journal, Tradition, Series Editor of the S.Y. Agnon Library at The Toby Press, and Director of Research at the Agnon House in Jerusalem. This program is made possible through the support of the RZA and that of World Mizrachi. Rabbi Saks will speak at YITH Shabbat Morning following Kiddush on the topic, “S.Y. Agnon’s Magic Cave and the Passage to Eretz Yisrael.”  On Shabbat afternoon at 6:40pm, Rabbi Saks will give a shiur entitled, “The Dream of Aliya: Why Did Rabbi Soloveitchik NOT Become Chief Rabbi of Israel?” At Seudah Shlishit he will speak on the topic, “Rashomon and Mishkan Opening Day.” And on Sunday, April 15th join us at 9:15am at YITH for coffee and bagels and hear Rabbi Saks speak on the topic, “S.Y. Agnon and the Miracle of Faith.”
