Framing the Discussion: This panel will explore the intersection of genetic health, Jewish values, and proactive care in the wake of October 7. Judaism places a deep emphasis on pikuach nefesh (saving a life) and l’dor v’dor (generation to generation), making genetic screening a vital tool for safeguarding the well-being of individuals and families. Our panelists, leaders in genetic counseling, medicine, and end-of-life care, will discuss the critical role of education, access, and advocacy in ensuring that all individuals have the knowledge they need to make informed healthcare decisions.
We will also explore how Jewish resilience and continuity are closely linked to health and well-being, and why this work is more urgent than ever. Through personal stories, medical expertise, and a broader discussion of healthcare justice, this panel will address why conversations around genetics, health, and planning for the future must be prioritized in today’s Jewish community.
