It’s true: 5K races are a dime a dozen in metro Atlanta.

But what makes the Downtown Daffodil Dash 5K stand out is its mission to support and raise awareness of the Downtown Daffodil Project, the Downtown Atlanta component of the worldwide Daffodil Project.

Produced by Am Yisrael Chai!, the worldwide Daffodil Project aims to build a Living Holocaust Memorial by planting 1.5 million daffodils around the world to remember and represent the one and a half million children who died in Nazi-occupied Europe and bring awareness to those currently suffering human rights crises throughout the world.

Central Atlanta Progress and the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District committed to being a Daffodil Project partner in 2014, when we hosted a ceremonial planting of 20,000 daffodil bulbs in Woodruff Park.

Year by year, we have grown the Downtown Daffodil Project to over 275,000 bulbs planted across Downtown Atlanta, creating a “ribbon of consciousness” from the Center for Civil and Human Rights to the King Historic District.

In 2017, we took our efforts a step further by hosting the first-ever Downtown Daffodil Dash 5K, featuring 100 runners and walkers on a route that began and ended in Woodruff Park. After the race, participants were able to plant their own daffodil bulb in the park’s new Daffodil Remembrance Garden.

This year, we’re bringing back the Dash on Sunday, November 4 and invite the community to join us. Whether you’re looking for a Peachtree Road Race qualifier or just enjoy a walk through the heart of the city, this race and fun run is for all fitness levels. We welcome teams, individuals, little ones in strollers, and even dogs on leashes.

Online registration for the Dash is open until Wednesday, October 31, and day-of registration will be available in the park.

The Dash is made possible with support from Delta, NCR, and Big Peach Running Co.
