Among the distinguished guests were Ambassador Judith Shorer, Consul General of Israel to the Southeastern United States; Hadassah Medical Organization (HMO) Chair, Dr. Rachel Schonberger, and other Hadassah national board members.

The guests enjoyed dining on delightful tea sandwiches and scones and sipping assorted teas.  Not to be missed, the pastries and petite fours were sumptuous treats, as to be anticipated at the Ritz.

One of the highlights of the celebration was a report by distinguished guest speaker, Professor Tamir Ben Hur, Director of Neurosciences, Professor of Neurology at Hebrew University. He shared exciting new research advances in the treatment of neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, using pomegranate seed oil.  Professor Ben Hur also explained the excellent results in the teamwork approach to treating patients, contributing to his knowledge and skills.

Featured guest speakers were members of the Weismark Family, Ilana, Adee and their fourteen year old daughter, Kinneret. They had a riveting story to share, of a near-death and miraculous survival experience when Ilana gave birth to her daughter, Kinneret, at Hadassah Hospital Ein Karem.  After the delivery Ilana had severe complications. Time was the important factor. The team of doctors, with no seconds to spare, in record time began treatment to save her life. Her husband,  Adee, was considered a part of the team in case very personal decisions needed to be made. The awesome skills and synchronized actions of the Hadassah Hospital doctors, who also held a 48 hour vigil, performed a miracle.  As Ilana so eloquently stated,” At Hadassah Hospital you check your religion at the door.  After all, my cab driver was Arab, and his wife was my mid-wife.” That is Hadassah’ s work, to meet the needs of all people.
