CIE TILI Sept 2021 rev

Teens in 10th to 12th grade will gather online from across the Americas and Europe for the Center for Israel Education‘s fall 2021 Teen Israel Leadership Institute, which enhances Israel knowledge by providing presentations that help teens appreciate and belong to Israel’s role in defining Jewish identity. In addition to delivering tools to help teens interpret events with context and nuance, CIE staff will help participants share their newfound knowledge and skills with their communities.

The institute will run for 3 1/2 hours on consecutive Sundays. The topics to be covered include Zionist and Israeli music in shaping Israel’s multiculturalism; Israel’s Jewish and democratic origins; identity, religion and ethnicity in Israeli society; the building of the state from 1882 to 1949, examining the British, Arabs and Zionists; the state of Arab-Israeli negotiations; and being critical consumers of news.

Teens with any level of background knowledge, including none, are welcome to attend, but the most successful participants are willing to engage in constructive conversation with their peers and bring an open mind to discussions.

The usual $54 fee for the workshop has been waived for the fall 2021 TILI, so there is no cost to attend.
