We will be welcoming our visiting JTS Rabbinic intern, Claire Davidson Miller (she/her) for the weekend. She will be offering a d’var torah on Friday evening, and after dinner, we’ll host a Q&A with her on her journey to the rabbinate.

Claire began her journey to the rabbinate in the fourth grade, when she pestered her Judaics teacher about Dina’s whereabouts in the Torah so incessantly that he made up a song for her about it. Now a second-year rabbinical student, Claire approaches much of her Jewish learning the same way, always looking to empower those traditionally marginalized by our tradition.

Claire comes to JTS with particular passions for education and social justice. She works at B’nai Jeshurun, where she is the Youth Advisor and Shabbat Educator, at JTS where she tutors Hebrew for other students, and for List College where she is the Resident Director for the undergrad dorm. In her free time, Claire is part of the Tirdof housing justice group through T’ruah and JFREJ and works for reproductive justice.

Claire graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brown University with degrees in Judaic Studies and Middle East Studies, receiving awards for Excellence in the Study of Hebrew, Excellence in Judaic Studies, and her Jewish and interfaith work on campus
