The Torah of Inclusion, Nonviolence and Transformation

Inclusion

How can we find and magnify inclusion as a value in Torah? Inclusion of the contributions and dignity of all peoples in the vision of the world we are creating? And inclusion of Jews with disparate views, identities and appearance?

A major theme of Torah and Judaism is the Am, meaning, The People. What can you find in Torah that helps you have the experience of inclusion? What is your relationship to the Am, the people-hood of the Jewish people? If you are Jewish, how is it challenging for you to feel as if you fully belong? How is it challenging for you to WANT to fully belong?

What is the connection between connecting to the Am, the Jewish people, and social justice?

In this 2-hour session of learning and experiential participation, we will draw on Nonviolent Communication to read Torah and Jewish sacred text in relation to these questions. We will consider how this inquiry helps us find The Torah of Inclusion, Nonviolence and Transformation.

This event is presented by Roberta Wall, Steps2peace, and Limmud Atlanta.
