Speaking Out in the South: An Afternoon of Good Trouble

As you may be aware, ADL had long been planning to honor Congressman John Lewis with the Lifetime Achievement Award at our Jurisprudence Luncheon on March 16, which had to be postponed due to Covid. Like many around the world, we were deeply saddened by his passing this weekend.

After reflecting, we believe that the best way to honor his memory—and continue advancing his life’s work—is to proceed with a posthumous award.

We have rescheduled that event to a webinar program, Speaking Out in the South: An Afternoon of Good Trouble on Thursday, August 6th from 12-1pm.

The webinar will feature a video recorded by prominent Atlanta leaders in tribute to Congressman Lewis. Additionally, we intend to have a dialogue with our other honorees, Linda Klein (Elbert P. Tuttle Award) and Daniel Huynh (Emerging Leader Award), moderated by Justice Carol W. Hunstein, about the importance of maintaining civil rights advocacy today. We hope you will join us.
