Risky Business: How Parents Can Help Pre-Teens & Teens Make Good Choices

This is a program brought to you by the Jewish Education Collaborative

We all know that the adolescent years are filled with physical, cognitive, and emotional changes that manifest themselves in a myriad of ways. How can you as a parent foster safe habits and healthy risk-taking so that the preteens and teens in your life emerge from this period healthy, thriving, and resilient?

Together with Moving Traditions, we will explore messages teens receive about risks and courage from media, society, and Judaism and the developmental and evolutionary aspects of taking risks. Parents will consider where to draw the line between acceptable or unacceptable risk-taking behaviors and reflect on how they might help their pre-teens and teens make thoughtful, healthy, and safe decisions.
