This program is open to the greater Atlanta Jewish community and beyond.

The first 20 individuals that sign up for all three sessions will receive a Jewish mental wellness bundle. Bundles are for local Atlanta participants and will be picked up at local synagogues, membership at a synagogue is not required to attend.

Jewish Mental Health Series – Jewish North Fulton is being offered through the Making Jewish Places initiative of the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta.

Part One: COVID: Trauma in your Brain and your Body

What’s happening to our brains as we endure this pandemic, with its losses and fears? Why do we react as we do — with sleep problems, weight gain, anxiety? Join Dr. Betsy Stone to think about what we’ve lost and what we’ve gained.

Betsy Stone, a Yale-educated Psychologist, is a retired Clinical Psychologist, with experience teaching in synagogue schools, at Hebrew Union College since 2002, and to groups of educators, Rabbis and parents. She delivers interactive seminars, webinars and talks, with an emphasis on relatable and usable information. Part Two: Jewish Approaches to Mental Wellness: An Exploration of Jewish Values and Prayer
Tuesday, February 9 at 7:30pm EST
Participants will be guided through different activities that explore Jewish values and prayer as they connect to mental health. Time will be spent on eight middot (Jewish values) and understanding the importance of the mi sheberach for mental health and addiction.

Part Three: QuietingTheSilence: A Conversation
Tuesday, February 23 at 7:30pm EST
Join us for a book-talk and conversation about the book, #QuietingTheSilence, a collection of personal stories from Jewish individuals aimed at raising awareness, understanding and hope for those who live with mental illness.
