Concerned about the soaring rates of depression, anxiety and substance abuse across the country? Statistics show more than 40 percent of adults in the United States experienced anxiety and/or depression last year. For adults between 18 and 24 that number climbs well above 50 percent. Alcohol and drug use have also increased, as has the number of deaths by suicide and suicide attempts by youth and adolescents. As much as we would like to think these things don’t happen in the Jewish community, they do.
