We live in an interdependent world. The stories we tell about ourselves and each other meet in both planned and unintentional ways. Sometimes these stories are synergistic and produce more than the sum of the parts. At other times, they bump into each other and cause conflict.
Join JProATL in this experiential workshop where participants will learn how to reduce destructive conflict and increase constructive disagreements, by transforming the stories that guide their lives and influence their relationships and performance in the workplace. This pertains especially to cultural differences including ethnicity, gender and generational.
Dr. Beth Fisher-Yoshida is Professor of Professional Practice, Director of the MS in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution program, Director of the Youth, Peace and Security Project, all at Columbia University. She is also President and CEO of Fisher Yoshida International, LLC.
Dr. Fisher-Yoshida takes a systemic and narrative approach to working on complex issues with multiple stakeholders on negotiation, conflict resolution and social transformation processes. Her research interests are the intersection of women, negotiation and socially constructed narratives that govern behavior. Her main areas of practice, research and writing involve women and negotiation, intercultural communication, narrative, youth leadership and CMM. Dr. Fisher-Yoshida received her Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems and MA in Organization Development from Fielding Graduate University and is a Certified Clinical Sociologist (CCS). She’s published many articles, chapters, and has authored and edited books.
