Augusta Jewish Museum
With Phase One Opening July 2021 and Serving the Augusta GA and Aiken SC areas, our four pillars of education are: Jewish Contributions to the CSRA, Jewish Heritage and Traditions, Remembering the Holocaust, and Israel the Land and People. Understanding one another brings acceptance, tolerance, and love. The mission of the Augusta Jewish Museum, with the help of Historic Augusta and the community at large, has been to reclaim and restore the original Augusta Congregation Children of Israel Synagogue, the oldest standing synagogue in Georgia (built 1869), and re-purpose it as a Museum and Center for Education. The adjacent historic Court of Ordinary (built 1860) which is an early fireproof building in GA once preserved Richmond County’s records. Now, as part of the new Augusta Jewish Museum, it will collect, preserve and interpret the rich evidence of the Jewish experience in Augusta, GA, Aiken, SC and the rest of the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) and will educate, challenge and inspire audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Phase One opens to the public July 2021. Our mailing address is Augusta Jewish Museum, PO Box 14279, Augusta GA 30901.

Museum of Jewish Heritage
The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust is New York’s contribution to the global responsibility to never forget. The Museum is committed to the crucial mission of educating diverse visitors about Jewish life before, during, and after the Holocaust. As a place of memory, the Museum enables Holocaust survivors to speak through recorded testimony and draws on rich collections to illuminate Jewish history and experience. As a public history institution, it offers intellectually rigorous and engaging exhibitions, programs, and educational resources. The Museum protects the historical record and promotes understanding of Jewish heritage. It mobilizes memory to teach the dangers of intolerance and challenges visitors—including more than 60,000 schoolchildren a year—to let the painful lessons of the past guide them to envision a world worthy of their futures.
