About Zimria Festivale Atlanta

In its fourth season, the group, aptly named Zimria Festivale Atlanta (“Zimria Festivale” connotes Festival Singers, in Hebrew), is a member choir of the William Baker Choral Foundation, focusing on choral compositions with Jewish-themed material or written by Jewish composers, both sacred and secular. The goal is to bring this unique mix of music to the general public in Atlanta, and for singing members, coming from diverse backgrounds, to be exposed to literature previously unexplored in our area of the country.

Since 2015, the group has performed Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with the Lynn Swanson Festival Singers, selections from Handel’s Judas Maccabeus, and many other works by contemporary Israeli and American composers. Zimria Festivale Atlanta was also featured with other Jewish singers at the Atlanta Celebration of the 50th anniversary of Nostre Aetate, where the Vatican affirmed established a new rapport with the Jewish community.
