UCB hosts a booth at Atlanta Science Festival

March 23, 2019 Atlanta Free

Annually, the Atlanta Science Festival (ASF) showcases the best STEM exhibits with thousands of students and their parents in attendance. Among the many exhibitors to be featured at this year’s event, scheduled on March 23, at Piedmont Park from 11 am – 4 pm, is UCB, the Atlanta-based global biopharmaceutical company working in osteoporosis and other severe chronic diseases and one of the sponsors for ASF. UCB will be hosting a booth experience at T741 in the Thrive Zone called “Walking in a Patient’s Shoes.”

According to the International Osteoporosis Foundation, osteoporosis and low bone mass are currently estimated to be a major public health threat for almost 44 million U.S. women and men aged 50 and older. To increase awareness, the booth will focus on the burden of fragility fractures and allow visitors to see the world through the eyes of individuals who may have osteoporosis or have suffered a fragility fracture. Through a variety of interactive activities, visitors will be able to experience what it feels like to live with this burdensome condition.

UCB will host student volunteers from the Georgia Chief Science Officers program (also supported by UCB) at the booth during the event.
