For centuries, Jewish homes have been permeated with the aromatic and sensuous flavors of traditional Shabbat dishes. Discover what’s behind these tasty ingredients blended into tempting culinary favorites. This course will explore the history, meanings and reasons of these foods, as well as the techniques and “chef’s tips” on preparing them. A true multi-sensory and gastronomic experience!

Week 1 | The Fish Course
Our obsession with fish may have begun in Egypt but understanding its honored place on the Shabbat table is a whale of a tale. To fillet or not to fillet? Wait till you sample our catch of the day.

Week 2 | Chicken Soup
The Kabbalah of chicken soup. There’s nothing watered down here as we delve into the mystical meanings of this coveted “Jewish penicillin” and float in the clouds with the fluffiest matzah balls you’ve ever tasted!

Week 3 | Kugels and Sides
Ethnic kugels and tasty sides—learn why they came to be and how to prepare them to perfection! From spicy to sweet, let your taste buds run wild as you indulge.
