Senator Ron Wyden, It Takes Chutzpah: How to Fight Fearlessly for Progressive Change
Author Talk, Q & A & Book Signing
As the child of Jewish refugees who fled Nazi Germany in the 1930s, Senator Wyden is committed to the pursuit of tikkun olam, which literally means “to repair the world.” This concept drives the 4 greatest passions of his political life: creating an economy where all Americans can get ahead, civil rights, health care, and protecting the environment.
It Takes Chutzpah chronicles Wyden’s remarkable political career. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives at just 31 years old after spending his twenties advocating primarily for seniors. In his four decades in Congress, Wyden has sponsored some of the most consequential laws for our society and his new book takes readers behind the scenes to see how these battles were won.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ron Wyden, a Democratic Senator from Oregon, served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1981 until his 1995 election to the U.S. Senate. Oregonians-and all attentive Americans-know Wyden as a senator who listens and innovates. The son of two refugees from Nazi Germany, he was born in Wichita and lived in Chicago, St. Louis, and Washington D.C., as his father Peter Wyden, a journeyman journalist and later a best-selling author, pursued his career and curiosity. Senator Wyden is Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, and a senior member of the Energy and Natural Resources Committe.
