Second Helpings Atlanta’s 1st Taste of the Trucks

November 12, 2016

Second Helpings Atlanta, a premier food rescue organization in metro Atlanta, is hosting it’s 1st annual Taste of the Trucks event on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the fields at the Concourse (near the King and Queen buildings in Sandy Springs). This communitywide event will have food, fun and festivities for all ages!

Taste of the Trucks will feature more than 15 of Atlanta’s favorite food trucks, an arts and crafts market, live music by Second Hand Swagger and the Mike Veal Band, local beers and a Kids Zone featuring inflatables and games. Additionally, kids can participate in a meaningful community service project by assembling lunches provided by Whole Foods and decorating bags that SHA Volunteers will deliver to nearby Partner Agencies to distribute to those in need. Projects will start at noon, 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the Community Service Project booth in the Kids Zone.

“We wanted to host an event that would both raise awareness and funds to drive out hunger and reduce food waste in metro Atlanta, while bringing the community together around food, music, art and community service projects, says SHA’s executive director, Joe Labriola. “Second Helpings Atlanta’s Taste of the Trucks will encompass all of those elements in an environment that’s fun for all ages.”

Since 2004, Second Helpings Atlanta has rescued and delivered over 5.5 million pounds of nutritious food to those in need in metro Atlanta. This year alone, the organization has already rescued over 1,000,000 pounds of food. To Volunteer or to Donate, please contact volunteer@secondhelpings.info or visit: www.secondhelpingsatlanta.org.
