Over the last hundred years, the Jewish composers and lyricists of the American musical theater – from Berlin to Rodgers and Hammerstein to Sondheim have transformed the American musical into their own unique contribution to world culture.

In the process they reflected their own experience as American Jews seeking to find a place in an America they did so much to redefine. We’ll critique some of the great shows of the past and present in a abundance of film clips and documentary materials.
