Remembering the Holocaust (2)

Hillels of Georgia, in partnership with the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust are honored to host Holocaust survivor Ben Walker for a virtual conversation, “Remembering the Holocaust.”

Ben Walker was born near Czernowitz Romania, an area that is now the Ukraine. On November 20, 1940, Romania formally joined the Axis alliance. In 1941, Ben and his family were deported from their home in Romania to Transnistria, an occupied territory in northeast Romania. Between 1941 and 1944, German and Romanian authorities murdered between 150,000 and 250,000 Romanian and Ukrainian Jews in Transnistria. Ben and his mother were the only members of his family to survive.

Hillel welcomes the community to join them for this program as Walker shares his story and how it shaped his life and values.
