What is LEADS?
What do you get when you combine the social aspect of happy hour with the discussion model of book club and the deep connections you make through summer camp and networking? LEADS is a 7-week program designed with YOU in mind. Do LEADS to meet new people, learn what Jewish Atlanta has to offer, talk about current and relevant Jewish topics and explore how Judaism fits into your life. Each group has about 15 people and is hosted by volunteer leaders from the community. You’ll be grouped by age group and your preferred neighborhood, so Atlanta traffic is no excuse here! Each session includes two Shabbats, one happy hour and two post-evening session outings at either a bar or an ice cream joint.

Where does the program take place?
LEADS sessions are hosted in the homes of our fantastic young adult LEADS leaders. When you register, you will select a preferred LEADS location that is most convenient to your schedule. Please note, not all locations are guaranteed and will be based on enough participants prioritizing each location.

Dunwoody/Sandy Springs
Buckhead/Brookhaven
Midtown
VA Highlands/Old Fourth Ward

How much does it cost?
$36

What does my $36 pay for?
Half of your registration payment covers program food, supplies, and materials. The other half helps makes you a part of something bigger. $18 goes to Federation to support the needs of your Jewish community in Atlanta, in Israel and around the world. Please contact Rachel if you have any questions.

What are the types of topics we will be discussing?
LEADS discussions are informal and center around your Jewish identity and exploring how we relate to the contemporary world of cultural Judaism.
Topics include (but are not limited to):
• My Jewish story
• Jewish customs and rituals
• American Judaism and the global Jewish community
• How to I relate to Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World)
• My Jewish values
• What does the Jewish Young Adult community in Atlanta have to offer and how can I get involved?

What if I have special dietary restrictions?
Your LEADS leaders will provide appetizers at every session as well as two delicious Shabbat dinners. LEADS leaders strive to serve Kosher food. Our leaders volunteer to host in their homes, so we encourage you to share your specific dietary requirements with them to ensure you are comfortable participating. Additionally, please note any special dietary restrictions, including levels of Kashrut, when you register and we will make every effort to accommodate you. If you have any questions or concerns about the level of Kashrut, please don’t hesitate to contact Rachel Kosberg, 404-870-1614.

How are the groups divided?
The groups are divided first by age and then by location. We do not guarantee each neighborhood to have a group, as it is largely dependent on who signs up. Please request the location preference that best fits with your schedule.

What if I have to miss a session?
We understand unforeseeable circumstances as well as important prior commitments. However, due to the nature of this program, we recommend you consider postponing your LEADS participation if you will be missing more than one session. Please be sure to let your leaders know ahead of time if you will be missing any part of the program.

What if I don’t know anyone else signing up?
One of the big goals of LEADS is to meet new people. There are only 10-15 participants in each group, so it is a great environment to make new friends! There will also be time to meet participants from other groups during larger meetups.

Can I sign up with a friend?
We will do our best to honor friend requests, however, we encourage you to sign up for different groups to meet new people and widen your network.

Registration opens August 29
