LAURIE BETH MORALES, Bulletproof

Bulletproof goes behind the headlines to tell the story of one of the most horrific family tragedies in recent memory, one that begins with an ordinary marriage, but ends in the most unimaginable way. As a young wife, Morales struggled through years of infertility, a traumatic miscarriage, cancer, and then finally, the miraculous births of sons, Alec and Asher. Soon she begins to discover dark secrets, long hidden by the man she thought was a loving husband. His addiction is revealed, alcoholism and DUIs followed by risky behavior with prostitutes. Morales explores the paths that we create to get back to ourselves in the face of unspeakable tragedy. Her decision to tell her story publicly was driven by the hope that she could help others in the depths of despair.

Laurie Beth Morales is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in grief and loss, including infertility, chronic & terminal illness, palliative care and end of life counseling. She has a psychotherapy practice in Scottsdale, Arizona, runs the Center for Palliative Counseling, and works with grieving parents and family members from across the country. She has a Bachelors in Psychology and Masters in Social Work, is nationally certified in the treatment of addictions and has been in private practice for more than twenty years. Since she has decided to tell her story publicly, she has appeared on Dr. Phil, interviewed on the podcast Psych Sessions and serves as a resource for victims of crime and trauma for the State of Arizona and Colorado.
