Marty Kogon, past chairman and current board member of Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, is a respected and thoughtful leader who has been involved in Atlanta’s Jewish community for more than three decades with forward-thinking, innovative endeavors that have helped shape our Jewish community. He was the recipient of Federation’s Young Leadership Award and has served as a past chair of Federation’s annual campaign for community needs, the first chair and a current board member of the ALEF Fund, the first chair of the Israel Economic Development Committee (predecessor to the American Israel Chamber of Commerce), national commissioner and member of the southeast regional board of the Anti-Defamation League, and past president of the Epstein School. He has also held board positions for Ahavath Achim Synagogue, AIPAC national Executive Committee, American Jewish Committee, BBYO, Marcus Jewish Community Center, Jewish Vocational Services, Men’s ORT, Georgia World Congress Center and Georgia Lottery Commission. Marty is also a recipient of the ADL’s Abe Goldstein Human Relations Award.
From IBM to National Dynamics computer services, from Central Metals Recycling to Pull-A-Part, an innovative discount do-it-yourself used auto parts retailer, Marty’s career has been diverse and visionary. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology as an industrial engineer and holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. Married for 49 years to his wife and closest advisor Judy, they have two sons, Michael and Ross; two daughters-in-law, Laurie and Sara; and six grandchildren, Eve, Leah May, Marion, Gerald, Morris and Freyda.
