Keren Leibovitch is a world class swimmer: three-time world champion, five-time European champion, holder of three world records, and eight-time Paralympic medal winner, including four golds. Join us as Jewish National Fund opens a window to her extraordinary worlds of athleticism, motherhood, and entrepreneurship to help others with disabilities overcome adversity.
Keren Leibovitch is a gold-medal winning Paralympic athlete. During her service in the Israel Defense Forces, she broke her back and was paralyzed from the waist down. After two major back surgeries and three years in the hospital, the only sport she could compete in was swimming. Leibovitch swam in the 2000 Sydney Paralympics where she set world records in the 100-meter backstroke, 100-meter freestyle and 50-meter freestyle events. Leibovitch competed again in the 2004 and 2008 Paralympics, earning one more gold medal, two silver and a bronze. Remarkably, due in-part to her training regiment, Leibovich learned to walk again. Today, she owns a Pilates studio catering to individuals with and without disabilities.
In Keren’s honor, we will be raising money for Jewish National Fund’s Partner Program in Israel, LOTEM-Making Nature Accessible. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to support the critical in-service training, which trains professionals on how best to integrate those with special needs into Israeli society.
