Temple Beth Tikvah, The New Sancutary Movement & Compassionate Atlanta Present….a conversation on Immigration.

Immigrant, refugee, asylee, migrant, documented, undocumented. What do all of these words mean? Who are we describing and what determines the label?

It can be confusing hearing all of these words, trying to figure out what each one means and how it works on a personal level and through a government lens.

Leanne Rubenstein, Executive Director of Compassionate Atlanta, will bring some explanation of these different terms and how they affect individuals and families. Leanne worked in Refugee Resettlement for 20 years and served as the Associate Director of a refugee resettlement agency in Atlanta serving over 1000 refugees and asylees annually, as well as providing emergency response programming to individuals and families displaced by Hurricane Katrina and the massive earthquake in Haiti.

Leanne will give an overview of how our many US immigration policies shape the lives of individuals, families and communities.

This will be part talk, part interactive experience and part discussion.
