Program Description:
In recognition of January being the National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention month, The Temple’s Rothschild Social Justice Institute’s Anti-Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking small group will conduct an educational session.  This session will feature a documentary and a moderated discussion with a distinguished panel of experts on sex trafficking legislation and law enforcement. This program will begin with the viewing of the CNN Freedom Project documentary, “Branded: Sex Slavery in America.”  This 24-minute documentary explores the human trafficking industry; CNN’s Sara Sidner introduces us to women who’ve been tattooed by their traffickers as a way to show ownership in the lucrative business of sex trafficking.  The documentary highlights the need to fight back against this form of modern-day slavery; to that end, a panel of local leaders working to combat human trafficking in Atlanta will lead a discussion and take questions following the screening.  Panelists include State Senator Renee Untermann – state legislator who sponsored the Safe Harbor and Rachel’s Law bill, Richard Moultrie – US Attorney’s Atlanta Anti-Human Trafficking Coordinator, & Mary Frances Bowley – Founder and Executive Director of Wellspring Living.
