Atlanta Jewish Film Festival – Anna and the Egyptian Doctor

In a Berlin hospital, Dr. Mohamed Helmy faced discrimination and witnessed the Nazi expulsion of Jewish doctors. As a committed humanist, he risked his life to protect Jews, including young Romanian-born Anna Boros. Posthumously recognized as Righteous Among the Nations, his Egyptian family initially refused the honor for political reasons. Israeli filmmaker Taliya Finkel sets out to bridge this divide through Helmy’s great-nephew, a Cairo physician.
