AJFF Selects: The Lavender Scare

September 14, 2017

AJFF confronts a troubling chapter in American history with timely implications. Tickets are on sale now for the latest in our monthly Selects series, proudly co-presented with Out On Film, Atlanta’s LGBT Film Festival.

Shining a light on a shameful chapter of American history, The Lavender Scare is the first in-depth account of a ruthless Cold War campaign to purge homosexuals from the Federal government.

Directed by Emmy-winning 60 Minutes producer Josh Howard, who will attend the event, and based on the formative book by historian David K. Johnson, The Lavender Scare captures the outrage and activism that helped ignite the modern gay rights movement.
