Join the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival for a night of food and film, as we enjoy a collection of food-themed short films over delicious bites and craft cider.

When: Tuesday, March 26. Doors open at 7:00 PM, program start at 7:30 PM.

Where: Urban Tree Cidery (1465 Howell Mill Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318)

Tickets: For $12, you’ll enjoy delicious food from Zunzi’s, a sampling of cider provided by Urban Tree, plus the film program.

 

About the Program:

Our AJFF Young Professionals Shorts and Schmooze includes a series of short films,all themed around one of everyone’s favorite topics: food! Titles include: Wendy’s Shabbat, Bagels in the Blood, The Chop, Bacon & God’s Wrath, and Tuesdays are for Burekas.

Filmmaker Adam Hirsch will emcee the evening’s festivities.

Presented in partnership with ACCESS, the young professionals division of American Jewish Committee.

Wendy’s Shabbat: A joyful group of seniors captures the spirit of Shabbat in their own unique way, gathering at a fast food restaurant to light candles and say prayers over hamburgers and fries.

Bagels in the Blood: A fiercely dedicated, third-generation owner of a popular wood-fired bagel shop, nestled in the Mile End neighborhood of Montreal, passes on the enduring, bittersweet story behind a century-old family business.

Bacon & God’s Wrath: A 90-year-old woman playfully reflects on her experiences, and reckons with her Jewish faith, as she prepares to try bacon for the first time.

The Chop: An offbeat comedy about an out-of-work kosher butcher who finagles a job at a halal meat shop. Winner of Audience Awards at the DC and Palm Springs shorts festivals.

Tuesdays are Burekas: The sisterhood of an Atlanta synagogue comes together to make delicious Turkish pastries, using a Sephardic recipe that has been handed down through the generations, in this delicious example of intergenerational community spirit.
